The Leader of Collectors Item and owner of Power House Studios is a Music Educator, Voting member of The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (The Grammies), The Houston Professional Musicians Union, BMI Music Writer & Publisher and is currently working on a Solo CD project to be finished soon.
Kenny Smith
Kenny is another native Houstonian, Co. Leader of Collector’s Item and arranges much of the music for the Band. He’s a keyboardist who’s comfortable playing Funk , R&B, Standards, Gospel or Piano Bar gigs. An instructor for Rap Rhythm & Rhyme Summer music program and church music director.
Rick McGowan
An original member of Collector’s is a native Houstonian who started performing in professional groups from the age of 14 and hasn’t stopped since, he’s also member of the Liberty Baptist. Church Gospel Ensemble. He’s a enthusiastic guitar collector, fisherman and Loves the art of laying down a solid groove in the music.
Samuel Dinkins, III
Sam keeps the solid back beat driving Collector’s Item’s groove. He’s music director for the St. James Contemporary Jazz Worship Service, a music producer, educator, and a clinician for Remo, and Zildjan drum & percussion instruments. He’s always striving to promote our rich heritage in music and is always in demand as a session musician around town.
Jeanell Thomas
Jeanell Thomas is a native Houstonian and has been singing since the tender age of 3. Her passion for music runs deep from singing, songwriting to recording. In 2008 Jeanell burst on the local Houston scene from background, featuring on local artist projects, headlining to hosting her own events “Friday Night Live.” After a 3 and half year drive, December 2011 Jeanell found a home with Collector’s Items Band which has encouraged her talent as a vocal musician.
Marion Lewis
Marion studied trumpet performance at Northeast Louisiana University and Grambling State University, which included both classical and jazz styles. He was a member of the Northeast Louisiana University Jazz Band, the TSU (Texas Southern University) Jazz Ensemble and many small combos traveling throughout Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas.
Paul Brown
Percussionist
A native Houstonian from Sunnyside. Introduced to drumming and percussion instruments in the early 70′s. Started my musical journey playing organized music in the 7th grade Woodson Stage Band. My style incorporates Soul, Rock and Latin music genres.
